Emancipated Hearts by Dean Wareham is released today
Dean Wareham's first solo album, Emancipated Hearts, is released in the US today (Tuesday). The album was recorded last winter in San Francisco with Jason Quever of Papercuts and is released on Dean & Britta's Double Feature label.
The album got a good review on Pitchfork this week:
Born unceremoniously into the world, this brief and stirring mini LP stretches back to his earliest Galaxie 500 days when it was just two verses, two choruses, both the same, and the rest of the song just spills out. Maybe he's channeling one of his heroes Lou Reed while scoring 13 Most Beautiful... or dusting off "Blue Thunder" on the road a few years ago, but Wareham is at least glancing in the rear-view, beautifully recapturing that moment in which everything opened up among the gauze and reverb of the magical "Tugboat."
He’s also turned back the clock to about 1989 – there’s little evidence of his Luna sound here, this is more Galaxie 500 being abandoned in the English countryside on a miserable day.
The album is available on CD and 10" vinyl, as well as the usual digitalhannels
If you can check out your local record shop - the Record Store Day database may help you find that.
You can buy it online at deanwareham.com - including special packages bundled with T-shirts
I'm guessing it'll be on iTunes too (but that link didn't seem to be for me - maybe Apple know where I live!)
Sadly, not on Bandcamp
The album will be released in the UK and Europe on Sonic Cathedral on the 4 Novemmber - the Sonic Cathedral 10" comes in orange vinyl.
